The Why
There are timelines where misaligned AGI happens not because we were unable to solve alignment, but because the people who would have solved it were disrupted by a flood, an earthquake, a pandemic, a war. etc etc.We can't prevent these things happening, but we can mitigate their impact by ensuring we're reasonably prepared for them.
